Technical Field
[001] The present invention relates to a muffler system with a protector that is connected to an exhaust system for an engine of a small vehicle such as a motorcycle. In particular, the present invention relates to a muffler system with a protector for a small vehicle, in which an increase in the temperature of a muffler protector covering a muffler containing a catalytic converter is restricted, and a protrusion of the muffler protector for the periphery of the muffler is restricted to improve the external appearance. Prior Art
[002] A muffler system with a protector for a motorcycle in which a muffler protector covering a muffler containing a catalyst is formed in a double structure and the surface temperature of the muffler protector is thus lowered has been publicly known until now ( see Patent Document 1 given below). Prior Art Document Patent Document Patent Document 1: Japanese Patent No. 4400823 Summary of the Invention Problems to be solved by the invention
[003] The muffler with the protector disclosed in Patent Document 1, however, not only presents a problem in which, because of the muffler protector protruding outwards around the muffler over a large extent, the muffler protector protrudes out excessively and impairs the external shape in a case where, for example, the muffler protector is applied to a so-called upward muffler which is a muffler placed close to a seat for a motorcyclist, but it also constitutes a problem in which, because hot air from the muffler directly reaches the muffler protector, the effect of restricting an increase in the muffler protector temperature should be further improved.
[004] The present invention was made considering the situation indicated above. An objective of the present invention is to provide an unprecedented silencer system with a protector for a small vehicle, which is capable of solving the problems mentioned above with the following scheme, in which: by the use of protector supports in the form of a plate to support a muffler protector while covering an upper surface of a high temperature part of a muffler, hot air between the muffler and the muffler protector, which are arranged in such a way as to be tilted upwards from the front to the front. rear, it is actively discharged to the rear of a vehicle by means of heat convection, whereby an increase in the temperature of the muffler protector is restricted and the intrinsic function of the thermally insulating muffler protector is enhanced in this way; and when placing the muffler protector adjacent to the protector brackets, the external protrusion of the muffler protector is restricted and the external appearance is thus properly arranged.
[005] To solve the problems, the invention according to claim 1 provides a silencer system with a protector for a small vehicle in which: a seat for a motorcyclist is placed above a rear wheel suspended on a rear a vehicle chassis structure; and a muffler containing a catalytic converter is connected to a downstream part of a exhaust pipe that communicates with an exhaust port of an engine mounted on the vehicle chassis structure, characterized in that, close to the seat, the muffler is placed at an angle in its longitudinal direction upwards from front to rear in line with a front-rear direction of the vehicle chassis structure, the muffler is provided with a plate-shaped protector support covering an upper surface of a high temperature part of the muffler, a front opening and a rear opening are formed between a top surface of the muffler and the front and rear parts of the protector bracket, and the protector bracket is provided with a muffler protector covering the top surface of the muffler.
[006] To solve the problems, the invention according to claim 2 provides the silencer system with a protector for a small vehicle according to claim 1, characterized in that the silencer protector extends covering the support of protector and the silencer, and wind direction doors to direct an ascending wind are opened in an intermediate area of a front part of the silencer protector.
[007] To solve the problems, the invention according to claim 3 provides the silencer system with a protector for a small vehicle according to claim 2, characterized in that the protector holder and a different protector holder are attached to the muffler with a gap between the protector bracket and the different protector bracket in the front-rear direction, and the muffler protector wind direction ports are located in a space between the protector bracket and the protector bracket different.
[008] To solve the problems, the invention according to claim 4 provides the silencer system with a protector for a small vehicle according to any of claims 1, 2 and 3, characterized in that the silencer protector it is formed in a double structure including an external silencer protector and an internal silencer protector, and a rear part of the external silencer protector is formed of a material that has greater heat resistance than that of a material on the front of the protector external silencer.
[009] To solve the problems, the invention according to claim 5 provides the silencer system with a protector for a small vehicle according to claim 4, characterized in that the wind direction doors are formed respectively in the external and internal muffler protectors while shifting the wind direction ports from each other in the front-rear direction.
[0010] To solve the problems, the invention according to claim 6 provides the silencer system with a protector for a small vehicle according to claim 5, characterized in that the double structure silencer protector is fixed to the muffler after the external muffler protector located externally and the internal muffler protector located internally are pre-assembled in the muffler protector.
[0011] To solve the problems, the invention according to claim 7 provides the silencer system with a protector for a small vehicle according to claim 1, characterized in that the silencer includes a plurality of defined expansion chambers by dividing the interior of the muffler in the front-rear direction with separators, and the protector bracket covers the upper surface of a rear area including the expansion chamber which is the most rear between the expansion chambers. Effects of the Invention
[0012] According to the invention as reported in claim 1, not only while the vehicle is running by operating the engine, but also after the engine has stopped operating, the heat from the muffler, which is heated to high temperature by because of the reaction heat of the catalyst and the exhaust heat of the exhaust gas, it passes between the muffler and the protector bracket through the openings between the muffler and the front and rear parts of the protector bracket, and is discharged to the rear. Thus, an increase in the temperature of the muffler protector is restricted. In this way it is possible to avoid a problem in which the hot air from the muffler spreads from near the seat for a motorcyclist to the outside. Furthermore, the external protrusion of the muffler protector from the muffler can be restricted by placing the muffler protector adjacent to the protector bracket and building the muffler protector in a smaller size, and the external appearance of the muffler protector can be reduced. enhanced.
[0013] According to the invention as reported in claim 2, the silencer protector extends covering the protector support and the silencer, and the wind direction doors to direct the rising wind are opened in the middle area of the part front of the muffler protector. Thus, while the vehicle is traveling, the rising wind that flows along the side of the vehicle chassis can be used efficiently in the gap between the muffler protector and the muffler. In this way, heated parts, such as the inside of the protector support and the gap between the protector support and the silencer protector, can be efficiently cooled. What's more, the muffler protector can be built in a smaller size, and the external appearance can be improved.
[0014] According to the invention as reported in claim 3, the protector holder and the different protector holder are fixed to the muffler with a gap between them in the front-rear direction. The wind direction ports formed on the muffler protector are located in the space between the protector bracket and the different protector bracket. For this reason, the protector brackets enable the oversized muffler protector to cover the muffler widely to be stably supported by the muffler. In addition, the wind that rises from the wind direction ports can be directed efficiently to the gap between the muffler and the muffler protector without being hindered by the protector supports. The guard holders and the muffler guard can be cooled efficiently. The muffler protector no longer protrudes outward. In this way, the muffler protector can be constructed in a smaller size and the external appearance can be improved.
[0015] According to the invention as reported in claim 4, the rear part of the external silencer protector is formed of the material which has greater heat resistance than that of the material of the front of the same. For this reason, the use of the expensive material with the highest heat resistance may be limited to the required area and the cheap material that is low in heat resistance, but good in external appearance, can be used in the wider area. Thus, it is possible to reduce costs and improve the external appearance while ensuring heat resistance.
[0016] According to the invention as reported in claim 5, the wind direction doors are formed respectively on the external and internal silencer protectors on the double structure in a way that moves the wind direction doors from each other in the direction front-rear. For this reason, the rising wind can be directed efficiently to the external surface of the silencer by means of the wind direction ports since the silencer protector is formed in the double structure. Furthermore, the wind direction port of the internal muffler protector is not exposed to the outside, so it is possible to improve the external appearance of the double frame muffler protector.
[0017] According to the invention as reported in claim 6, the silencer protector is attached to the silencer after the external silencer protector located externally and the internal silencer protector located internally are pre-assembled in the silencer protector. For this reason, it is possible to improve the ease of assembly and maintenance of the muffler protector despite its double structure.
[0018] According to the invention as reported in claim 7, the high temperature area including the rearmost expansion chamber, which is at a higher temperature because of the movement of the hot air (as a result of the muffler being tilted upwards from front to rear) after the engine is stopped, it is covered with the protector support. For this reason it is possible to improve the thermal insulation effect through the protector support, to effectively restrict an increase in the temperature of the silencer protector, to build the silencer system with a protector in a much smaller size, and to improve the appearance external. [0027] One embodiment of the present invention will be described specifically below on the basis of the accompanying drawings.
[0028] The front, rear, left, right, top and bottom observations in the descriptions of the following modality are based on the direction of travel of a motorcycle in which an Ex exhaust system is mounted.
[0029] This modality represents a case where a silencer system with a protector of the present invention is executed as the Ex exhaust system that is mounted on the motorcycle.
[0030] Figure 1 shows a motorcycle of the mount type including the silencer system with a protector of the present invention. A front tube 2 is provided at a front end part of a vehicle chassis structure 1 formed from tube elements and more. A front wheel Wf is suspended on the front fork teeth 3 which are steerably supported by this front tube 2. A swing arm 4, on which a rear wheel Wr is suspended, is mounted on a joint at the rear of the frame. vehicle chassis 1 in a mode capable of oscillating vertically. This swing arm 4 is supported by the vehicle chassis structure 1 with the aid of the rear shock absorber units 5. An E drive motor is mounted on a central lower part of the vehicle chassis structure 1. An output shaft of this E motor it is connected to the rear wheel Wr by means of a power transmission mechanism 6. In addition, a mount-type seat S for a motorcyclist is provided in an upper part of the vehicle chassis structure 1 above the rear wheel Wr.
[0031] The Ex exhaust system configured to discharge an exhaust gas, which is discharged by the operation of this E motor, to the outside it is connected to an exhaust port of the E drive motor. This Ex exhaust system includes an exhaust pipe 8 which extends under the S seat towards the rear of the vehicle chassis structure 1. The silencer system with a protector of the present invention, which extends obliquely backwards from the front to the rear under the seat S, it is connected to a downstream end of this exhaust pipe 8.
[0032] This muffler system with a protector includes an M muffler containing an AC catalyst, a double-structure muffler protector MP covering this M muffler, and a protector bracket PS1 and a different protector bracket PS2 to attach this protector to. silencer MP to silencer M.
[0033] Thus, the exhaust gas that is discharged from the engine E by its operation enters the muffler M via the exhaust pipe 8. While the exhaust gas passes through the AC catalyst inside the muffler M, harmful substances such as HC , CO and NOx are removed. Then, the resulting exhaust gas enters an expansion chamber (muffling chamber), and is thus made a silencer and eventually discharged into the atmosphere. In addition, the muffler, which is heated to a high temperature because of the exhaust heat of the exhaust gas and the reaction heat of the AC catalyst, is covered with the MP muffler protector. This prevents the heat from the muffler from being discharged to the outside.
[0034] First of all, descriptions will be provided for the structure of the M silencer containing the CA catalyst when referring mainly to figures 3 and 6.
[0035] This M silencer tilts upward in the longitudinal direction, that is, from the upstream side to the downstream side in a direction in which the exhaust gas flows (ie it tilts upwards from the front to the rear) . The muffler M is supported by the vehicle chassis structure 1 with the aid of a silencer support 26.
[0036] A main muffler body 10, which forms an outer shell of the muffler M, is hermetically formed by using a cylindrical trunk section 11 whose diameter gradually becomes smaller from the upstream side to the downstream side, a front section 12 connected to a front end of the trunk section 11 and in the form of a cone trunk that is tapered towards its front end (upstream end), and an end plate 13 occluding a rear end (downstream end) of the trunk section 11. A rear end (downstream end) of the exhaust pipe 8 is connected to the front end (upstream end) of the front section 12. A rear tube 14, which is open to the outside, is connected to end plate 13.
[0037] A catalyst chamber 15 is formed within the front section 12 of the main silencer body 10. The AC catalyst is contained therein. This AC catalyst is modeled just like a cylinder. A front end (upstream end) of the AC catalyst penetrates the front end of the main silencer body 10 and is supported by it, thus being connected to the exhaust pipe 8. Furthermore, a rear end of the AC catalyst penetrates into a plate support 16 and is supported by it, which is provided in the front section 12 in the main silencer body 10. In addition, a rear end (downstream end) of the AC catalyst is opened into an expansion chamber 17 which it is formed inside the main silencer body 10. Thus, the exhaust gas cleaned by the AC catalyst is allowed to flow into the expansion chamber 17. The first and second separators 18, 19 to divide the interior of the main silencer body 10 in the first, second and third expansion chambers 171, 172, 173 are provided in the central part of the interior of the trunk section 11 of the main silencer body 10 in the longitudinal direction final. The communication tubes 20 are supported by the first and second separators 18, 19. These communication tubes 20 make the first and second expansion chambers 171, 172 communicate with each other, and a different communication tube 21 is supported by the second separator. 19. This different communication tube 21 causes the second and third expansion chambers 172, 173 to communicate with each other. In addition, the first, second and third expansion chambers 171, 172, 173 within the main silencer body 10 function as the virtually unitary expansion chamber 17. In addition, an outlet tube 22 penetrates the second separator 19 and the plate end 13 and is supported by them. This outlet tube 22 causes the third expansion chamber 173 and the rear tube 14 to communicate with each other and discharges the exhaust gas silenced in the expansion chamber 17 to the outside.
[0038] A noise-absorbing material retaining plate 23, in which punch holes are drilled, is provided on an inner peripheral surface of the trunk section 11 of the main silencer body 10. A noise-absorbing material 25 such as glass wool is placed between the inner peripheral surface and the noise-absorbing material retaining plate 23. In addition, another noise-absorbing material retaining plate 24, in which punch holes are drilled, is provided on an outer peripheral surface of the outlet tube 22. Another noise-absorbing material 25 such as glass wool is placed between the outer peripheral surface and the noise-absorbing material retaining plate 24.
[0039] The silencer support 26 is fixed to the upper part of the trunk section 11. The silencer M is supported by the vehicle chassis 1 with the aid of this silencer support 26.
[0040] The protector support PS1 is integrally fixed to an upper surface of a rear part of the trunk section 11 of the main silencer body 10, which corresponds to the second expansion chamber 172 (which is at a higher temperature after the engine And be turned off). The different protector bracket PS2 is integrally attached to an upper surface of the front section 12 (which is at a high temperature due to the reaction heat of the AC catalyst) of the main muffler body 10.
[0041] As shown in figures 3 and 4, the cross-sectional shape of the protector support PS1 in a direction crossing the longitudinal direction of the muffler M (that is, the direction in which the exhaust gas flows) is modeled as a arc extending along the upper surface contour of the trunk section 11 of the main muffler body 10, and the plane shape thereof is modeled just like a square plate. This protector support PS1 is attached to the upper surface of the trunk section 11 of the main silencer body 10, which corresponds to the second expansion chamber 172 (see figure 8). The front and rear fixing tabs 30, 31 extending downwards are provided integrally in a projecting manner in the central parts of the front and rear edge edges of the protector support in the wide direction, respectively. The left and right fixing tabs 32 extending downwards are provided integrally in a projecting manner on the left and right side edges of the protector support, respectively. The lower ends of the respective fixing tabs 30 to 33 are welded to the upper surface of the trunk section 11 of the main muffler body 10.
[0042] As shown in figures 5, 6 and 8, a thermal insulation space 34 is actively formed between the protector support PS1 and the upper surface of the trunk section 11 of the main silencer body 10. A front opening 35 is communicating with the thermal insulation space 34 is formed between a front part of the protector support PS1 and the upper surface of the trunk section 11 of the main silencer body 10, while a rear opening 36 communicating with the thermal insulation space 34 it is formed between a rear part of the protector support PS1 and the upper surface of the trunk section 11 of the main silencer body 10, respectively. In this way, the protector support in the form of a PS1 plate acts as a thermal insulating element to control the transmission of exhaust heat from the muffler M to the muffler protector MP, which will be described later.
[0043] The different protector bracket PS2 is attached to an upper surface of the front section 12 (in which the AC catalyst is contained) of the main muffler body 10, which is shaped like a cone trunk, while providing a gap for protector support PS1 in the longitudinal direction of the muffler M (the direction in which the exhaust gas flows). The cross-sectional shape of this different protector support PS2 in the direction crossing the longitudinal direction of the muffler is modeled like an arc extending along the upper surface contour of the front section 12 of the main muffler body 10, and the flat shape of the same it is modeled just like a triangular plate. The different protector bracket PS2 is attached to the upper surface of the front section 12 of the muffler M while being slightly offset from the protector bracket PS1 in the direction from left to right [ie, a direction orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the silencer M (ie , the direction in which the exhaust gas flows). The front, rear and side parts of the different protector bracket PS2 are welded to the upper surface of the front section 12 of the main muffler body 10.
[0044] A gap is formed between the different protector bracket PS2 and the upper surface of the front section 12 of the main silencer body 10. The upward wind is allowed to flow through the gap.
[0045] As shown in figures 3 and 4, the fixing brackets 38, 39, each having a shock absorbing rubber 81, are provided on the upper surface of the rear end of the protector support PS1 and on the upper surface of the end front of the different protector bracket PS2, respectively. The MP double-structure muffler protector is attached adjacent and separably to each of these fixing brackets 38, 39.
[0046] The following will provide descriptions for the structure of the MP muffler protector.
[0047] The MP muffler protector includes an external muffler protector 40 and an internal muffler protector 41.
[0048] The external silencer protector 40 is formed by integrally joining a 40F front external silencer protector and a 40R rear external silencer protector. The front external silencer protector 40F is molded entirely from a synthetic resin (nylon 6), and the rear external silencer protector 40R is integrally molded from another synthetic resin (polypropylene glass containing fiberglass) which has greater heat resistance than the 40F front external muffler protector. The front external muffler guard 40F has a size that corresponds to the front section 12 and a front half of the trunk section 11 of the main muffler body 10, and is shaped like an arc extending along an outer peripheral surface of the muffler M. The 40F front external muffler protector has a tapered shape towards the front end (upstream end) of the main muffler body 10, and the rear end thereof (that is, the end that is connected to the muffler protector) rear 40R) is formed on an arched surface in a way that projects from left to right. On the other hand, the 40R rear outer muffler protector is smaller in size than the 40F front external muffler protector, and has a size that corresponds to a rear half of the trunk section 11 of the main muffler body 10. The protector rear external muffler 40R is modeled such as an arcuate surface extending along the outer peripheral surface of the M muffler, and the front end of the muffler (that is, the end that is connected to the front external muffler protector 40F) is formed in an arched surface in a recessed mode in the direction from left to right. An external wind direction port 42 extending from left to right to direct the rising wind is formed in an intermediate area of the front external silencer protector 40F in the longitudinal direction (that is, the direction in which the exhaust flows). In addition, an external wind direction passageway in the form of a blade 43 extending to the external wind direction port 42 is formed therein.
[0049] The external muffler protector 40 is formed by the front external muffler protector 40F and the rear external muffler protector 40R when fixing the fixing lugs arranged in par 44, 45, which are provided on a rear surface of the rear of the front external silencer protector 40F, to the fixing holes arranged in pair 46, 47, which are provided on a front edge of the rear external silencer protector 40R, by using the fixing screws s, respectively (see figure 5) (while the internal silencer protector 41 to be described later is fixed together). Decorative coatings, the colors of which are different from each other, are applied to the outer surface of the front external silencer protector 40F and to the outer surface of the rear external silencer protector 40R, respectively, for the purpose of improving a design effect.
[0050] On the other hand, the internal silencer protector 41 is molded entirely of a synthetic resin (nylon 6), and has a size that enables the internal silencer protector 41 to cover the front section 12 and the trunk section 11 of the main silencer body 10. The internal silencer protector 41 is modeled such as an arcuate surface extending along the outer peripheral surface of the main silencer body 10. A front part of the internal silencer protector 41 is realized in a tapered shape in the direction of the front end along the front section 12 of the muffler M, which is modeled just like the cone trunk. In the middle area of the internal silencer protector 41 in the longitudinal direction (that is, the direction in which the exhaust gas flows) an internal wind direction port 52 extending from left to right, to direct the upward wind , is formed slightly at the rear of the external wind direction port 42 of the external muffler protector 40 (downstream in the direction in which the exhaust gas flows). Furthermore, an internal paddle wind direction passage 53 extending to the inner wind direction port 52 is formed therein.
[0051] The external silencer protector 40 is mounted on the upper surface of the internal silencer protector 41 in advance. Then, the resulting internal muffler protector 41 is attached to the upper surface of the main muffler body 10.
[0052] In addition to the fastening bosses 44, 45 mentioned previously (which are also used to fasten the front and rear muffler protectors 40F, 40R), the different fastening bosses 56, 57, 58 for pre-assembly are provided on the surface rear of the external silencer protector 40. On the other hand, the fixing holes 60, 61, 62, 63, 64 for pre-assembly are provided on the upper surface of the internal silencer protector 41 corresponding to the fixation strips 44, 45, 56 , 57, 58 for pre-assembly, respectively. The MP double-structure muffler protector is pre-assembled by fully joining the internal muffler protector 41 and the external muffler protector 40 when attaching these mounting brackets 44, 45, 56, 57, 58 to the fixing holes 60, 61 , 62, 63, 64 by using the fixing screws s, respectively.
[0053] The MP double-structure muffler protector, which includes the internal muffler protector 41 and the external muffler protector 40, is fixed adjacent to the upper surface of the main muffler body 10 using the support bracket. PS1 protector and different PS2 protector bracket.
[0054] Fixing brackets 38, 39 are provided respectively at the rear end of the protector bracket PS1 and at the front end of the different protector bracket PS2. In addition, the shock absorbing eyes 72, 73 are provided respectively on the rear of the protector bracket PS1 and on the trunk section 11 of the main silencer body 10. On the other hand, the fixing holes 75, 76, 77 and the support holes 78, 79 are drilled in the pre-assembled MP silencer protector corresponding to the fixing brackets 38, 39 and the shock absorbing eyes 72, 73. The pre-assembled MP silencer protector is fixed adjacent to the upper surface of the main silencer body 10 by fixing the fixing screws b to the fixing brackets 38, 39 through the fixing holes 75, 76, 77 (see figure 8), and making the shock absorbing eyes 72, 73 fit with the support holes 78, 79 (see figure 8).
[0055] The following will provide descriptions of how this modality works.
[0056] The exhaust gas produced by the operation of the E engine is directed to the muffler M via the exhaust pipe 8. Inside the muffler M, the high temperature exhaust gas flows into the AC catalyst, where harmful substances such as HC, CO, and NOx are removed. Then, the exhaust gas heated to high temperature passes through the catalyst chamber 15 and flows into the expansion chamber 17. Within the expansion chamber 17, the exhaust gas flows through the first expansion chamber 171, of the communication tubes. 20, the second expansion chamber 172, the different communication tube 21 and the third expansion chamber 173 in this sequence. During this flow the exhaust gas noise is reduced. The resulting exhaust gas flows from the third expansion chamber 173 to the outlet tube 22 and is discharged outside via the rear tube 14.
[0057] In the meantime, diffusion in one direction of radiation from the hot air emitted by the silencer M, which is heated to a high temperature because of the exhaust heat of the exhaust gas and the reaction heat of the AC catalyst, is restricted by protector bracket PS1 and the different protector bracket PS2, each modeled just like a plate, not only while the motorcycle is traveling due to the operation of engine E, but also after the operation of engine E is interrupted. Furthermore, a hot wind flowing from the upstream side to the downstream side of the muffler can be discharged to the rear after passing between the upper surface of the muffler M and the protector bracket PS1 through the front and rear openings 35, 36 which are formed between the muffler M and the front and rear parts of the protector bracket PS1. An increase in the temperature of the MP muffler protector covering the outside of the muffler M can be restricted near the S seat for a motorcyclist. Thus, the diffusion of hot air to the outside of the vehicle chassis can be restricted near the S seat. Particularly because the MP muffler protector has a double structure, an increase in the temperature of the external muffler protector 40 can be restricted as much as possible. For these reasons it is possible to place the PM muffler protector adjacent to the M muffler, and to restrict its external protrusion which comes from an increase in the size of the MP muffler protector, as well as improving the external appearance. Particularly when this muffler M is placed closer to the seat S (like the rising muffler), the external appearance can be further improved.
[0058] In addition, because the wind direction ports 42, 52 for directing the rising wind are opened on the upstream side of the MP muffler shield covering the PS1 shield holder, the rising wind that flows along from the side of the vehicle chassis can be efficiently directed to the inside of the MP muffler protector while the motorcycle is traveling. In this way, the PS protector brackets and the MP silencer protector can be effectively cooled by this rising wind.
[0059] Furthermore, because the protector bracket PS1 and the different protector bracket PS2 are attached to the M silencer with an interval between the protector bracket PS1 and the different protector bracket PS2 in the front-rear direction (longitudinal direction) ) of the muffler M, and because the wind direction ports 42, 52 open on the muffler protector MP are located in the space between the protector brackets PS1, PS2, the protector bracket PS1 and the different protector bracket PS2 enable the oversized muffler protector MP covering the muffler M broadly to be stably supported by the muffler M. In addition, the rising wind from wind direction ports 42, 52 can be efficiently directed to the interstice between the muffler M and the muffler protector MP without being disturbed by the protector brackets PS1, PS2, and the heated parts, including the inside of the protector bracket PS1 and the gap between the PS1 protector bracket and the MP muffler protector, can be efficiently cooled.
[0060] Because the rear external silencer protector 40R, which is the rear of the external silencer protector 40, is formed from the material that has greater heat resistance than that of the front external silencer protector 40F, which is the front of the external muffler protector 40, the use of expensive material with the highest heat resistance can be limited to the required area, and the cheap material that is low heat resistance but good in external appearance can be used in the area wider. Thus, it is possible to reduce costs and improve the external appearance while ensuring heat resistance.
[0061] Because the external and internal wind direction ports 42, 52 are formed respectively on the external and internal silencer protectors 40, 41 on the double frame in a mode that displaces the external and internal wind direction ports 42, 52 from each other in the front-rear direction, the rising wind can be efficiently directed to the external surface of the muffler M through the winding ports 42, 52, since the muffler protector MP is formed having the double structure. Furthermore, because the internal wind direction port 52 of the internal muffler protector 41 is not exposed to the outside, it is possible to improve the external appearance of the MP double frame muffler protector.
[0062] Because the MP muffler protector is attached to muffler M after the external muffler protector 40 located externally and the internal muffler protector 41 located internally are pre-assembled, it is possible to improve ease of assembly and maintenance of the muffler protector. MP muffler despite its double structure.
[0063] Because of the area including the second rearmost expansion chamber 172, which has a higher temperature because of the movement of hot air (as a result of the M silencer being tilted upwards from front to rear) after the engine is switched off, covered with the PS1 protector support, it is possible to improve the thermal insulation effect by the PS1 protector support, to effectively restrict an increase in the temperature of the MP muffler protector, and thereby contribute to building the system muffler with a protector in a much smaller size and enhance the external appearance.
[0064] Although the foregoing descriptions have been provided for the embodiment of the present invention, the invention is not limited to the embodiment. Several examples can be performed within the scope of the present invention.
[0065] For example, although the previous descriptions have been provided for the case where the silencer system with a protector of the present invention is performed on the motorcycle of the mount type, it goes without saying that the silencer system with a protector of the present invention can also be performed on small vehicles such as other types of motorcycles and three-wheel motorcycles.
